When is the right time to sell?

When is the right time to sell?
I may not be able to get an unbiased opinion here because it is a land rover enthusiast website but I have a question. I'm getting a gut feeling that it may be a good time to sell the Disco I bought in Jan, although I love the car, almost everything. I think I could get a lot more for it over the next 4 months than if I decided to drive it till the wheels fall off. Its a 98' but only has 70k miles on it, just got a weird feeling that a lot will go on it soon. It seems to run fine and I know the previous owner and when something minor was fixed with the engine before I bought it the mechanic said that after seeing the inside of the engine it was in really good shape. However I got a really good deal and could wait for the right buyer who has to have a land rover. I could then buy one after finding the person who has to get rid of their car. Basically get maybe an 01-02 with @ the same amount of miles just because I got the time. My main questions are is this about the time/mileage when sh*t starts to hit the fan? Which has the better reputation the Disco 1 or 2? You guys all seem knowledgable so if you gotta a question I would love to answer it.

Well the DI's are cheaper to maintain. DI's get better MPG than DII's, but not by much.
You will be hard pressed to find a DII with 70,000 or so miles on it in 6-9 months, they are hard to find now.
DII's have a better more comfortable interior. For someone who never off roads and only drives a few miles a year a DII would be a excellent choice.
In this economy and high gas prices you will be really hard pressed to sell your truck. If you were to buy the DII now you could get one hell of a deal. But selling yours will be very hard. You will be lucky to break even.
If you put it up for sale now itshould be sold by spring. If you keep it and keep it in tip top shape and use it to pull your trailer it will hold its value and last you forever.
These trucks last forever anyway...50 years in the jungle and never once see pavement in their wholelife.
But if you want to sell it that it fine. We wont slam you for it. Rovers are not for everyone.
And just as a side note, every car/truck has problems. But at 70,000 miles your truck has a long way to go before anything real goes wrong.
My 1997 has 174,000 miles and runs like a champ, and I off road with it, pull a trailer too. I will be driving this truck to Alaska some day.

D1's don't get better mileage the D2's, Spike, where did you hear that little bit of PUH?
As for when "WAS" the best time to sell, it was about a year ago.
D1's are selling in the low $2000's to in the case of a 98, maybe $3500.
Hell I have been seeing 99 D2's for $4000 and up lately.
