Didn't she have the free 30,000 miles service that Rover would have paid for, if not, you are 9000 miles late.
If it was done, under normal circumstance the next filter change is at 120,000 miles with fluid changes every 30,000.

Do not assume that it has been done, if you have no records of it being done then it was not done.
To check the fluid there is a fill/check plug on the side of the transmission, drive it around the block, park it on a flat surface and with it in park and running remove the fill/check plug, it shold be right at the top.
It takes Dexron III.

Disco Mike,

The owners manual for my '04 says to change it a 30k and never touch it again - am I missing something?

Thanks

Robert

Thank you for that info and I just called the dealor and they said they have done it at 22,500, so I guess we are good and I will check the level, once again thanks.

The owners manual also says to change the oil every 7500 miles, do you listen to that too?
Change your filter every 60k (after the first filter change at 30k)and the fluid every 30k.
So assuming that the trans filter has been changed at 30,000 miles, change the fluid at 60,000 and the filter at 90,000, then repeat.
120,000 change the fluid, 180,000 the filter again.

I added the 120,000 filter change just as a safe guard.
