I am in the middle of a a head gasket job, and I bought the kit for atlantic british with all gaskets i could ever want. The only thing is i can not figure out where these tube like gaskets go? When i broke down everything I did not see any of these gaskets. I also cant find them in the RAVE manual. When I took the heads to the machine shop they had no idea either. I hope the picture helps.

In a seperate issue, when I took off the valve covers I found these little brass rings...hard to discribe I will take pictures of them.

 

That gasket kit covers many different engines, some parts are not needed.

 

Are any of the ones in question o-rings?

 

Yes, some of these are o-rings. I was thinking that some of these pieces might not be used, but was unsure.

 

The little brass rings that you are describing are most likely the original spacers/grommits that were in the valve cover gasket. Watch that they don't drop where you can't geth them. John

 

Yes, they go in the special drawer of left over parts...

Make sure you get them all out! They are the steel spacersthat keep the v/c gaskets from crushing. They will ruin your engine if they get stuck in the wrong spot. There are 4 on each gasket (side)

 

do the ones on the right look like this:

they might match up with the injector seals.
