I can't go much higher or I won't fit in the garage . What are my options for carrying mountain bikes and also snowboards?

hitch mounted platform? Would come off when having to drive to work instead of off for play.

I just picked up a new bike yesterday. 2013 Specialized Rockhopper Pro 29. I have to fold down one of the rear seats, remove front tire, and stowe it in the cargo area. Kinda sucks. I'm started looking at the hitch mounts, but dont wanna pay 300+ for one. Considering fabbing one up. Cause mounting it on the roof, with the addition of my lift, is out of the question.

The hitch mount is the way to go.

Hitch rack if driving more than 2 bikes, but my 29er fits upright with both wheels on with the saddle tucked up against the roof glass with the seats folded forward.

My 2012 Hardrock fits well at an angle with the front wheel off and back seats folded up. I wish I could utilize my rack somehow for this.

I have the hitch mount one, I got it off ebay for like $120 I think, I just added some support and welded up all of the joints to make it rigid. I haul my downhill bikes that weigh 50lbs. a piece and works well. I've had them all and this by far is the easiest and best way to haul your bikes.

gotchya on the hitch mount for the bikes :thumbsup I think I'll fab one up myself.

Wondering about snowboard racks now?? Maybe utilize yakima snowboard clamps and make them interchangeable with the mountain bike mount??? Carrying the boards vertical behind the rig??? Anyone done this or seen it?

I used a Yakima hitch mout and it was awesome. You can probably adapt it for your board.

Check Craigslist for a 2" hitch mount bike rack. There plenty of them on there for a lot less than $300. Personally I have an old saris rack that holds 3 bikes. Just make sure it can tilt out of the way so you can still get in the back without taking the rack off.
