Where to get brakes looked at?
After having the 3 Amigos light up, hearing a squealing sound and reading on the forum, I went to Autozone and got the P1590 code and now have decided to get the brakes looked at. The local LR shop is closed to day, can I take my 2003 Land Rover Discovery to another brake shop? What are your thoughts/experiences on having the brakes looked at?? Thanks!

the 1590 code is a rough road / abs related code, and the shop would need a computer / code tester that is specific to Rover ABS systems to deal with that and three Amigos. They may have a $20,000 code reader, but might not have the software specific to Rovers. You'll have to ask if they can reset codes for Rover ABS. CAn't do it with a generic OBDII reader. Brake squeal is usually pads, any shop or DIY home mechanic should be able to handle those.

If you are a little mechanical, go buy the $200 3 amigo scanner find and fix your own brake issues then post and resell your scanner for a loss of maybe $40. When you consider you will have to pay a shop 2 times, once for reading the codes and again for clearing them, this is the cheapest way to go.
