Default Where to Mount Driver's Side HID Ballast on D2?

I've read a few threads here about other D2 owners converting to HID and I'm wondering where is the best location to mount the ballast on the left (driver's) side? On the right side there seems to be plenty of space next to the battery. If you have gone through such a conversion on a D2 your input is appreciated!

Alan

Allen,
After I installed my HID's, I just stuffed the ballast, igniter wire harness on top of the light assembly and put the cover back on, works great.
Who's lights did you get and what wattage and color?

Mike, I got mine from VVME - 35W 6000K H7's. Recommended by my coworker and apparently they work well for quite a few of his motorcycle buddies also. About $65 including shipping directly from China and it only took me 3 or 4 days to receive in CA. The ballast and wiring look and feel high quality. I test lit one side last night and it's a nice slight hue of blue.

That is the same combination as I installed, did you get the single beam, based on the price you probably did, again like mine.
PM me with your tele number if you want some help or ideas, by the way, the light is awsome.

I really like my 4300K HIDs in both my headlights and driving lights. The amount of light they put out is incredible.

I got the single beam - for my '03 I got separate hi / lo beams and I don't plan on converting the hi beams as I rarely use them. I'm seriously thinking about converting the fogs though as I use them a lot as driving lights. Can't wait for it to get dark so that I can go out for a drive with my new lights ... and newly balanced driveshaft =>

It seems that on my '03 the driver's side ballast mounting option is fairly limited - I did mine the ghetto way and just stuck it between the airbox and the back of the headlight mounting bracket. The other option is to mount it on the outside of the firewall under the fender but access is fairly limited. On the right side I have the ballast sitting in the battery tray for now and I'll probably just put some velcro on it.
