I need to replace my RF Receiver. Most manuals (and experts) give instructions for the Discovery 2 with sunroofs fitted, BUT MINE HAS NONE. I've seen a photo that appeared to position it at the very back of the car, under the headlining above the rear door, but I've dropped the headlining and there's nothing there. I've reached forward as far as I can above the headlining, but can't find anything.
I've put the headlining back, but am beginning to wonder if I should have gone on and completely removed it — not a job to relish! Before I do so, I need to know that the unit IS up there somewhere, and not hidden behind (say) the B-post trim. Remember... I don't have the sunroof body.
Thanks, Discorama, for taking the time and trouble to reply... but I'm afraid I'm going to have to be a little sarcastic. 3 times I made the point that mine is the 'No Sunroof' body, and your pic is obviously a Sunroof one. There's plenty of manuals/videos where the unit location is shown for that body, but I can't find anywhere that shows it for MY body (which I understand is different in that small respect). I dropped the rear of the headlining and reached as far forward as the equivalent cross-strengthener, but couldn't find the receiver there. So where have they hidden it?
Sorry... I didn't fully understand your reference to <<'stereo' receiver>>, and forgot that there was an aerial/antenna receiver module. Thanks for that link to the online manual — I'd seen the same page as a PDF, but without the clickable links, so now I'll be able to go deeper. It looks like I'll have to repeat last weekend's work and drop the headlining again, but I'd have said that I'd reached the crossbeam in the photo without finding the receiver.
I might not be able to do it for a few days because hay-baling and sheep-shearing look to be on the cards for the weekend... but when I get the chance I'll investigate and report back. Thanks for your interest.
It's definitely got to be in the rear cargo area...I may have spoken to soon about it being in exact same spot on a non sunroof car but it is likely in the same area, as I'm not sure why they'd change the harness out just for sunroof or not. The electrical manual says "The RF receiver is connected on a B wire to earth header C0707"
You can see where C0707 is... (bottom right)
Rave says this -- so I'm pretty sure it's in the same spot, sunroof or not. It is possible to perform the various functions associated with the anti-theft system remotely. To accomplish this, the handset generates a radio frequency when the lock button or unlock button is depressed. This signal is transmitted to the Body Control Unit (BCU) via a receiver located in front of rear sunroof beneath the headlining. Precise alignment of the handset to the receiver is not necessary. The approximate operating range between the handset and the receiver is 10 metres (33 feet).
