Whining noise

Hi all.
When I am reversing my disco 2 td5 02 plate I can here a loud whining noise only does it when it is cold and only in reverse. Any suggestions to what it could be?

Is it a manual transmission? Very common for manuals to whine in reverse across all makes and models due to the way the gears are cut.

Check fluid quality and level just in case
