Hi ,
Got 300tdi es .When engine running and reved theres a whinning noise coming from a/c unit next to altenator , behind fan cowl .when i press a/c buttons noise decreases .is this normall or a problem .it seems to be working fine but noise seems odd. any ideas .cheers.

 

I would suggest you look closely at the belt and the pulleys for starters. Sounds like you have a bearing failing.

Have just took belt off a/c unit and noise has gone .would running without this belt be a problem ?apart from a/c not workin ,have been told a/c unit is a complete new unit to buy at around £450 or main dealer to look at a/c unit.
