Default white corrosion

Hello,

when I was replacing my PS pump, i noticed that on the bottom rear of the drivers side wheel well (inside by the engine) under the ABS pump a lot of white corrosion...just like you would find on the battery terminal (which there is also some there) THere is also some at the top of the wheel well on two little holes (appears to be bolt holes) directly under the ABS pump....what would cause this?

Thanks once again.

Steve

Hello Steve,
It could be coolant dripping from 2 places. Throttle body heater plate along the top of your valve cover to the back of the engine. The second place could be the valley pan gasket....which I think does seal some coolant ports in the lower manifold.
Some more folks can chime in and correct me on that.

Thanks for your reply. The white chalky stuff i discovered while doing the pump, but is not near it. It's on the inner wheel well actually in the area below the master cylinder as well as on two spots right below the EBS pump. Looks just like battery corrosion....

Is the area aluminum? It sounds like galvanic corrosion, commonly when bare aluminum is on contact with bare steel and the aluminum corrodes.
