Been there, done that too. I used the same ****** fitting, this should be in the "cheap modification" thread.

We need a sticky thread for metal replacements for plastic parts. It is always a struggle to find the right thing at the hardware store.

LOL I must have subconsciously liked the idea of a brass fitting there.
