Why can I only run snow tires in the winter?

I have 19 inch Range Rover wheels that a previous owner put on and it is slim pickings finding tires for a 19 inch wheel.
Looks like the Bridge stone blizzacks have great snow rating which I want, but I was curious what will happen if I run them all season.
I may go ahead and dedicate this wheel set to the winter and then buy some 18" wheels with A/T s for the summer.

I always thought that winter tires would wear out very quickly when used year round but in my experience they seem to hold up well. I've have Hercules avalanche x-tremes on my Disco for the last few years and 20k miles and they wear very evenly and have tons of tread left (too much because I want to swap them for Duratracs). I think it's worth trying if that's what you want. I'd bet that the Blizzacks have one of the softest rubber compounds though so you may want to find out more about them for year round use.
