And when you paint it, you can remove the old adhesive with denatured alcohol. First remove as much of the foam as possible. A wire brush works well. Then soak a sponge with denatured alcohol and go to work on the adhesive, cleaning the sponge as it gets gummed up with the old adhesive. The fiberglass shell has a nice pebbled finish that looks great painted.
Once you're satisfied all the old adhesive has been removed paint the shell with a good primer. I used KILZ. A small (4") roller worked well for me with brush work in the corners and elsewhere the roller can't go. I followed the KILZ with two coats of a good exterior latex. The label of the paint I used is attached. It's a great match to Bahama Beige interiors. I painted mine nine years ago and I've been very happy with the results.
