Selling mine on BAT in the next few weeks for that reason. I was just going to sell it locally but it’s a 60k mile example maybe someone is willing to pay the average BAT prices

I bought a 911 on BAT, I paid a fair price, not a great price. But I know it was extremely well maintained, enthusiast owned, and has been great so far. Its fun to watch, and great for interesting cars. The rovers that do sell there do get great prices, ebay is way up, even craigslist does not have much to offer as a good value. There was a blue one in florida that i almost bought. At the time I was not in the market, but now I am kicking myself.

Discos are only going to go up in value. They are the last of the true "go anywhere" Land Rovers. They are simple to work on, good looking, rugged, and with their truck like suspension and full frame can bear the punishments of both wilds of the world and the urban jungle. They may not be as plush as the LR3, 4, and Disco 5, but they are also easier to work on and keep running compared to those vehicles. They are also as close to a Defender as you can get without spending 6 figures.

Take a look at what first gen Broncos and any Scout is going for on BAT, That is NAS Defender money! Discoveries are way behind... It will be a nice day when someone cuts in line to pay $50k for my D2.

Interesting lately on the Discoveries and P38's someone outbids everyone else by huge money on the first day. A P38 went from like $1500 to $19,000 in three bids. Then it sat for 7 days with no other bidding until the last minute. That seems like a new tactic and sort of takes the fun out of the whole thing. My .02 of course.

Looked a bit more into BAT and discovered the auction does not guarantee a sale. BAT just connects potential buyers with sellers, but the deal happens after. I wonder if people really pay these prices?

I find it funny that people are upset that good discos are selling for so much money. Time to go buy some scruffy ones, fix them up, tastefully mod them, and sell on!

Because Millenials love them and with the average SUV ticket at 80K+ means that 20-30K for a Disco is a good deal I have seen them on BAT for 30K BTW.
And.. because they are ridiculously cool!!!
I'm restoring mine. 150K, It's a beast! I get stopped all the time.

The beast at the start of our cross country trip.

I've got 5 LR's (2 D1 & 3 D2), I have absolutely zero plans on selling them. 20k is a darn steal for either a D1 or D2. Nothing out there brand new even comes close! I can't stand new vehicles especially 4x4's. They DO NOT make them easy to work on, way to many electronic driver assist BS, not to mention they're just plain UGLY!!

I'm extremely happy in any LR from 87-04 (minus the Freelander) and I constantly get compliments on all of my LR's and how cool they are. I NEVER got those kind of compliments in a Jeep or my H3 Alpha which was far from stock.

You are not wrong there. Even the slightly newer LR3s are not as pretty as the Disco 1&2. Not to mention hideously complicated.
