Defenders are limited. They are individually numbered. They were only imported for 3 years. They look cool. They were hand assembled. Panels are riveted together and have exposed hardware. They look cool. Many have soft tops for an open air experience. They can be seen on safaris in Africa to photo shoots in magazines across the world. Queen Elizabeth drives a Defender. Enough said.
Discovery was mass produced and imported from 1994-1999. And 1999-2004. Hundreds of thousands. They are starting to become more cool and sought after but will never reach Defender status.

My 02 Kalahari is "limited" 1 of 150 ever made. The Special Vehicle D2's will always be more $$$$$$. Trek, Westminster, Kalahari, LE, and G4's will be extremely rare. I know I'm the only running/driving Yellow Kalahari in the entire state of TX. When I went to a recent LR Event several people asked if my Kalahari was indeed legit or just painted yellow to look like a Kalahari. When I said it was legit they all got out their camera's lol.
D90's are awesome and super simple to work on (however I find a D2 a breeze to work on as well), but they are not comfy everyday drivers. I'll take a D1/D2 any day vs a D90 personally. Some D90 owners I know are like some Jeep owners I know = it never goes off road and it's just an image thing. I use my D2's for anything and everything.
As far as the Queen goes she's been in every LR Model ever made honestly.
