So now that I've got my D2 on the road again, I have this wierd issue with the factory radio. First, the radio never said "code" it just turned on. None of the buttons on the radio work, but the steering wheel controls work Also, only the front door speakers work. I'm wondering if the PO "modified" the radio because beneath the passenger seat where the cd player should be, the factory wiring harness is gone and there is the following:
-hot wire connected to battery
-ground wire connected to seat
-4 speaker wires
-2 RCA plugs
All go beneath the carpet to who knows where. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to pull the radio to see if he tied into it somehow. But I'm thinking the head unit is bad if none of the buttons work..... Thoughts??

Pulled the radio today and found this mess. Looks like the PO had an amp beneath the front passenger seat. Had to cut out all the crap and re-wire the factory harness. A real pain because he cut the wires too short. Anyhow, I don't see the factory cable for the cd player. On my D1, it was there... just had to buy a cd player and plug it in. But on this one, there's nothing beneath the seat or carpet. Wondering if it's worth it to go on ebay and buy another factory radio, cd changer, and cable or buy an aftermarket stereo and lose my steering wheel control.

I got a factory radio from an '04 outta the junk-yard for $40. I would assume a cd player would run you about the same depending where you go.
