the rack i am looking at is a Genuine Safety Devices Roof Rack for D1 . Does anyone know if it will fit a DII?

 

I put a DI Hannibal Roof Rack on a DII and it fit without issues. I can't speak directly to whether the SD rack will fit but it should.

 

Yes, a D1 SD will fit a DII, but will be a bit short. You could always get it and later trade it to someone who has a DI with a DII SD rack. It seems people find one for one model when they have the other.
If you don't get it, I'd be interested in it depending on where it is and the price, I'm looking for another one.

 

The D1 rack is about 6"s shorter then a D2, many use it anyway.

and as Tom said get it if it's a good deal because someone down the line will have a d2 on their d1 and will be looking to trade.

 

i have both...and yes the hannibal make's one size for both trucks. I have a DII rack on my 04DII and a DI rack on my 00DII. If you move the DI rack back 2 inches it's very hard to tell. It's stronger on the pillers but you would need to load up over 200 pounds to make it worry you.You could also mount a hi-lift jack or awning on the back and you would never be able to tell. The DII hold a bigger tent better but both work.

I bought a DII SD rack for my DI.
A year later traded it even up for a DI SD rack.

The trucks are the same width but the DII is longer in the back.
It fits just fine.
