Default will this motor work

i have 97 disco 1 with a good motor and have a 99 disco 2 with bad motor.
can the disco 1 motor be installed into the disco 2. just the long block. i know the obvious is different like manifolds and belt acc.

Yeah the guts is the same if they are both Bosch engines. There is a difference with the crank position sensor between Bosch and Gems engines.

You can make it work. Think a guy on dweb has a huge pictorial on how he did it.

i think i may be able to save the motor in the d2, looks like a bent valve going to pull the head this weekend
