Default Window gear stripping sound

Lately I have had a gear stripping sound when raising the left front window. The noise starts about 3 inches from the top and continues all the way up. Is this a regulator or a motor problem, or both?

Thank you,
Willie

Hard to say without pulling the door panel and taking a look.

Is your engine all original?

I took the door panel off. You can't see much without taking the reg/motor out because it is covered with sheetmetal. I might just order both anyway.

I have replaced the head gaskets, waterpump, alternator, timing chain set, P/S pump, all gaskets and seals. The heads have been rebuilt. The lower end has not been rebuilt(yet). I don't hear any lower end knocking. I am seeing how many miles I can get out it. I have 90,000 no the tires now.

Well since the engine still qualifies as original you need to pop over to the Roaming with Friends section and add it to the 200k club.

on my passenger front, inside the gear assembly thats connected to the actual motor, the black rubber gear ripped off the center metal shaft. it made some funny noises until it actually tore clean off. i made a metal gear, tack welded it to the shaft, and coated it in rubber tool handle dip for cushion like the original setup, should hopefully be good to go for years and years. you cant see it unless you remove the metal cap off the motor. mine had popped off itself when the black rubber gear stripped off.

but who knows what your issue is
