Window Issue
So this morning I was real proud of my LR prowess, LOL, I got off the phone with Disco Mike who walked me thru a few steps with the trans on my 04 disco. (Thank You again) I was getting ready to go to the store and get more trans fluid to change out as much as I can and I stop at the Post Office, down goes the window, it bottoms out and goes er er er er till I hit the up switch and then nothing. Arrgh WTF I just changed the regulator last year.
LOL, so the trip to the store is postponed since we're expecting serious rain and I pull the panel. Long story short the motor gear went past the gears on the regulator and got wedged on the smooth metal part, it took a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet to get the regulator and motor apart. Check everything and all seems fine, no damage to the gears on either the motor or regulator. I put everything back together and all is working, although I stop the window before it reached bottom.
Soooo, what actually is supposed to prevent this from happening? No matter how many times I tell the wife not to let the window go all the way down I know I'll get that "honey, do you remember when you told me" phone call sometime.
One more quick question. Can the window channel be lubed? If so what with? I noticed when I freed the window and moved it by hand there was a decent amount of resistance.
Thanks

I spoke with the guy I bought the regulator from at RovahFarm. He said the increased resistance shuts down the motor. His feeling is something loosened up and allowed the motor to go past the teeth on the regulator. Everything is tight now we'll see, LOL
