HEY THERE !
atlantic british sells a " window lift ecu repair kit" for about $17.00.......what you are paying for is the instructions though, as the only parts you get are a piece of wire and a couple of connectors, but it makes the windows work !
I did this to my '98 DI and it only took a few minutes........I should dig out the instructions and come back here with a summary....and then someone more 'puter savy than me could "sticky" it.
just another option if soldering doesnt appeal to ya.

The glove box door will swing down out of the way if you push up on the catches so that they pass throught these slots. There is one on each side of the box and must be done at the same time.
Once the catches go through the slot the door will be free to swing all the way down. (remove contents of glove box first)
The face plate that holds the board in snaps out by puting a small screw driver into the seem around the sides of it were it slides into the case as seen here.
