Just bought my '04 Disco SE. Took it to LR Service for a rattle on the windshield. He informs me its the seal on the outside - the plate that the wipers are attached to... Apparently when the windshield was replaced (before I got it) the installer broke the clips. LR is telling me this is not covered by warranty. Is this true? How can they be sure someone else broke the clips? How do they know the clips didn't just break on their own? Any insight into how LR treats warranty customers wold be helpful.

In this case, you are not a warranty customer cause a non Rover repair shop damaged your truck and Rover is not responsible. This is not unusual for any one with a warranty, if it is their part or repair that failed, they are responsible otherwise they aren't.
See if you can find out who did the replacement of your windshiled and go back to them to have them cover their problem.
