Default Windshield Wiper tip

I have a 2000 Disco II. This tip probably would work for all of the Land Rovers.

I noticed I wasn't getting clean sweeps from the wipers. After looking into how they work closely I noticed there is a spring that needs to hold the wiper on the windshield all the way across. On my Disco II the wiper arm where is pivots near the base was not moving freely. It moved but didn't snap back to the windshield quickly as it should, and would stay a little off the windshield.

Solution: I took some penatrating oil and put it on the post where the pivot is. Worked it back and forth until it moved very freely. Now it snaps back on the windshield nicely like it should.

Test for it is to pull the wiper up a few inches and if it snaps down you are ok. If it doesn't go back on its own or feels tight you might need to fix it for better functioning.

Mike

Where is the best place to get wipers? I went to Napa and they were $40.00 each!

They are expensive. The winter blades at AB are even $65. They say they are made by the OEM maker though. They will go on sale for $50 or even $35 eventually.

I did that on the front--much better now. Anyone have issues with the rear. I only get a partial wipe--very little contact with the farthest part of the wiper. I use it quite a bit in the winter now from all the salt spray.

I went and bought some generic refills for around six bucks and carefully removed the old blades and installed the new ones. Worked great :-)
