if you are gonna do some mid to light duty off roading then 16" with a good set of A/T's or M/T's is the way to go. for most of we get at the pass in the winter or going up tinkum road or exit 38 regular tires will do the job.

The only real benefit from 18" wheels is being able to run lower profile tires for better highway only performance without losing the stock tire OD. Aside from that, 16" give vastly more options and better performance.
You just have to decide which it more important.

I agree 18" wheels on these trucks suck. I have 18" wheels and to say you are limited in choice is an understatement. The next extra $800 I have burning a hole in my pocket (I guess when my current tires are dead) I am dumping the 18" wheels and getting some 16" rims and some good tires.

Yeah I know, and this can be seen as a good or bad thing.
Once they get to the half way mark we are going to run them as summer tires and use them up.
