Default winter tires

what size tire is appropriate for the 16" 5 spoke wheels in winter tread for 04 Disco?

Stock 8" wide alloys?

255/65R16 is the stock size.

If you've got 7" wide wheels you could do 215/75r16 or 235/70r16.

This is assuming you want to be to same diameter as stock.

Well he's got an 04 disco, unless he's in the UK or ROW he's got 8" wide wheels

265 /75 is pretty cheap, 31.5"

Yeah. Some people like steelies for winter wheels. I think the rover steel wheels are 7" wide.

Never understood why... they rust and you can get a set of Rover alloys used for half the price of steelies.

Yeah. It's probably habit or something. On most other cars lower trim levels have steel wheels so you can get them cheap from wheel and tire places the sell aftermarket alloys. I remember getting a cheap set of steel wheels and snow tires for my Acura Legend when I was in college in Idaho.
