Default Wiper problems?

2000 disco 2.

My windshield wipers are acting up on me. If i turn them on interval or low they will not work at all. However, if i turn them on high, they will work but when i turn them back off, they do not automatically return to the resting position. They will stop wherever they are when the power is cut. So if they are in the middle of the windshield, they will stop in the middle of the windshield. When this happens, I have to use the single use part of the switch(by pushing the lever towards the floor) and get them to stop where i want them to. I thought it was the wiper switch so i replaced it with not success. One thing i noticed during install of the new switch is that the part the wiper switch mounts to and also the blinker switch mounts to, will rotate around the steering column. If i rotate the whole unit counter clockwise about 3 inches(where my wiper switch is not pointing almost straight up), I will have full use of my wipers. Im really not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

Raises hand, mine too. Thanks for reminding me, I have an appt. on the 6th at Rover to go through the vehicle. Weird.

Anyone shed some light on this?
I'll also let you know if the mechanic finds something at Rover Service.

Same issue with our '03 Disco. I'm assuming that lubricating the mechanism may help (friend of mine had luck doing this for similar issues on his Jetta)? Or perhaps the electric motor powering the wipers wears out over time?

Park switch inside the wiper motor is failing, the replacement of the motor is the only fix.

Thanks again for all the feedback. For anyone else in the same boat, I ended up getting just the motor (refurb): http://www.roverlandparts.com/1999-2...tor-front.aspx
