Default Wires for radio, and lights

Right now I have my CB radio mounted and need a 12v power supply that isn't tapped from the cig. lighter or anything, so I want to make a small fuse holder assembly under the steering wheel with the other fuse block. Question is where did you guys pull power from? Straight from the battery or is there an aux port for this?

Also I plan on adding front and rear lights on my future rack and would like to get all my wiring in place while I'm down there. Same question of where was power pulled from?

Pics or links are great, thank you!

The RAVE circuits manual shows the wiring and colors, look for things your rig may not have (an option). Usually Rover uses the same wiring harness with extra connectors if option not installed. The wiring diagrams show a tiny number by connectors. Go over to the electrical troubleshooting guide and look up that connector and you'll have a pix of the location. Things like trailer adpater come to mind, rear air, various items around the sunroofs.

If running a wire from one of the fuse links in the underhood box, put an in-line fuse at the box. The less "un-protected" wire the better.

This is a serious issue, even though it is a cheap fix. Many vehicles in the junkyard burned due to poor aftermarket equipment installations. Sometimes this can catch up with you on the road, and in bad cases, in your garage or near the house, making the family at risk. Please fuse "early and often". A fuse right next to the radio electrically protects the radio, and just the radio.

I know how to wire, but thank you for the fair warning. I was just seeing if there was some existing terminals or methods out there. I dont want to re invent the wheel

I was hoping you would take it that way, a lot more people will read your post later. The RAVE really does have some interesting locations of extra plugs. Where is your radio mounted?

I mounted my radio above the stock radio and ran the wires down the vent and into the compartment under the steering wheel. i have 1 fuse installed right behind the radio and i will be adding another fuse right after the power supply (where ever i might locate it) .

I was thinking of running a solid wire from the battery under the steering wheel to a terminal block and then run the appropriate relays and switches.... only issue would be the system shutting off with the car. any ideas? I need enough juice for say 7 lights (5 forward, 2 rear), the cb radio and a few other accessories so some heavy gauge wire from the power source to the terminal block.

250 watts at 12 volts is 21 amps roughly, will need large wire, which means big connector, fewer places that can fit. Might consider one for radio and another for lights.

Pix of underhood box, where bolt on fuse links might provide a tie point. But a marine battery terminal can be had that has multiple studs on it.
