Wiring advice needed
Ok, so I finally got around to wiring up the Hella driving lights that came on my truck. I've got the relay mounted. Hot from the battery to the relay, ground to the relay, hot from the relay to the lights, and ground for the lights. The problem I'm having is where to run the switch wire in to the cabin. I've already positioned the switch in the dash, I just need to get the wire from the switch to the relay. I also would like some advice on where to tap power for the switch inside the cabin. As always, thanks in advance for all your help.
I don't want to tap in to any of the existing wiring if I can help it. I have an '03, so all my headlight/marker light wiring is bundled up in to one plug. I'd prefer not to mess with this if at all possible.
then I guess you answered your own question. run it from the battery, if you don't want to tap into anything. In your question, you ask for a place to TAP into power for the switch. If you don't want to tap into power, don't ask.
I have 2 square DL's tapped into my high beam. (burn the insulation back, wrap new wire around, solder and heat shrink...) They come on with the high beams- no switch. My round Hella's are on my factory fog switch (i have no fogs) only power is with the park lights so I can turn them on any time my switch is on

Sorry, I should have clarified. I have run all the wiring in the engine bay, and DO NOT want to tap anything there. What I'm looking to tap into is inside the passenger compartment. Primarily, the help I really need is where and how to run the wire from the switch out of the passenger compartment into the engine bay. I would prefer to hijack an existing wire boot, but they seem to be all sealed up.
All your headlights and marker lights are on separate fuses. If you do something wrong the worst you'll do tapping a high beam wire is that you'll blow the fuse for that high beam. Your only option if you don't want to tap an existing wire is to run the wire direct from the battery to the switch. The problem I see with that is that if you hit the switch without realizing it you'll run the battery down or melt light covers to the lens if you have them on.
I have my driving lights wired to come on and go off with my high beams when I turn them on. I used a factory auxiliary light switch next to my factory fog light switch to control the driving lights.
I pushed the wires going from my switch to my relay through the grommet for the parking brake cable. Just put a small slit enough to pass the wire through.
