Default Which wiring harness for 2004 Discovery Aftermarket Radio My harness didn't fit

Hi I am working on my brothers Disc II. He bought this wiring harness (Part #: 70-9400)

http://www.electronicexpress.com/product?prod_id=14310

and it didn't fit. Is there another harness or do I need to cut the original harness and replace all of the speakers in the doors to get the aftermarket radio hooked up properly? We are installing a basic CD player. Any info would be appreciated.

Not sure which system you are working on, but I'm guessing the Metra 70-1786 would work better for you. How many plugs are on your Disco's harness? On my 01 there are three plugs, two you will need for the new unit. There is most likely an OEM amp under the drivers seat that powers the speakers, you can not use line level inputs to the amp, and will need to use the RCA outs from your new unit. This harness allows you to do this. One other watchout is that the amp gets its turn on input from the blue wire in the harness, and most head units turn this off when you switch from the tuner to the aux, ipod or CD feature. To get around this use the remote amp feature from your new head unit (blue / white wire).

Here is what I purchased when i put my Alpine in my 01:

The RAVE set of electrical, circuit, workshop, and owners manuals is your friend. Free download link, and the D2 wiring diagrams are in color, and the electrical library has color pix of connectors, locations, and pin-outs.
