Wiring Harness Disconnects for Front Doors?
#11
Okay, it's been 4 years: did you ever carry out your doorless mod, Alex? If so, what was your experience? Bonus points for anyone reading this who has pics of such a setup. I've been thinking of doing something similar.
My first question is just a practical one, since I know with a little ingenuity the hinges and wiring can be suitably modded to make the doors removable: how heavy is a DII door?

Alex lives! But his Rover doesn’t Thanks for the input!
My DII was just revived from sitting dead for 2 years while I debated about the value of forking over the money to get a new (used) motor put in, which I did. So, I was right there with ya. It wasn’t really worth it on paper, but it has been a valuable experience, I guess. If I had to do it again, I would have tooled-up and attempted a DIY rebuild.
Now that mine is moving again, well, I have all kinds of (probably bad) ideas!

No problem!
Unfortunately I have two sitting right now. I've got an LS swap ready to go in mine and I need to gather parts for another to go in the wife's. They'll be back on the road eventually, but I've got two other non-runners I the cue before them, plus keeping the two dailies running.
