Default wont come out of park

I just did and engine swap in my 02 Discovery 2. Everything hooked together just fine. But the engine wont turn over, its stuck in Park, and sometimes i cant get the key out of the ignition. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone may have. Thank you..........Bret

Having ithe RAVE on PC hard drive is faster than the CD rom, for $100 you could have it printed (sections of interest).

Here's pages for you, hope that all that one or two connectors were all that was missed when swap was done. This is under the automatic transmission section of the workshop manual, and shift interlock section.

Do a search for the RAVE manual on the forum, it is the same repair manual the dealer uses.
No, there is no way to test the neutral safety switch that I know of.

It looks like just a two wire switch, so hot leg is either ground or not. I suspect ground it to simulate operation. But perhaps some plugs were left apart when swapping engine.

When you find it just wire the 2 wires together, it will always think your foot is on the brake and you will never have a problem with it again.
That is a demolition derby trick so that you dont have problems during your run.

No Buzz, all cars have a neutral safety switch, they all work the same way, it is a on-off switch, take the 2 wires that power the relay and wire them together, no more neutral safety switch.
The switch tells the ECU to release the park lock on the transmission as well as to send power to the starter.

The OP also needs to check the brake light switch, turn the key ON and press on the brake pedal, do the brake lights come on?
No?
You need a new brake light switch, if that is bad you will not beable to shift out of park.
