Default Won't Run

I have a 99 disco II with 113000 and last night coming home the check engine light came on. I pulled in the garage shut it off and now it will not start back without holding the gas peddle above idle, then when let off the gas it dies. If you try to start it without using the gas peddle it acts like it starving for fuel. Any ideas? I'm really at my witts end with this thing After 100000 its falling apart. Thanks for the help.

My first thought is a clogged fuel filter. When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

If you can get to an auto parts store have them read the codes you are getting. that will give us a better idea.

DII's do not have a fuel filter.
Check your air filter, is it clogged?
I am going to lean towads a clogged air filter or a bad MAF.
But we really need the trouble codes to be of more help.
Two foot it, left foot on the brake, right foot on the gas.
Oh, oh, some autoparts stores will rent a OBDII scanner, take the wifes car, rent one and then read the codes and post them on this thread.

I missed that it was a D2. IT's always the small details that bite me in the butt.

First, don't drive it, you could cost yourself some serious $$$$$.
Go see if you can rent or buy am OBD2 scanner from your local auto parts store. Send me your number and I will walk you thru what and how to check your truck.

Just got back from oreilly's with the codes.
P0102-mass air flow
p0105-02 sensor bank 2
p1174- pop code?
p0174-too lean bank 2

Check this out. Pulled into oreillys truck died just like it has been. Drove home, which is just about all highway(3miles).Pulledinto garage and truck stayed running. Put a new air filter in, old was didn't look to bad.Andnowthe truck is running fine actually better than before. So what do I do? Go get the codes reset or what? Good call spike555. Thanks for all the help.

102 is a low input circuit fault
105 is not an 03 sensor, it is a manifold absolute pressure/circuit failure
1174 is a lean bank code as is 174.
Should have kept the air filter cleaner, per the 102 code.
You need a new MAF, consider ordering from Tony at the LRRF, he has one of the better on-line prices.
