Default Wont start............

I have a 01 disco 2 that isnt starting. When I unlock the car, the security light continues to blink and when I went to start it the alarm went off and it wouldn't even crank.

Any ideas??

And it won't crank, because it is immobilzed. May be that door switch is not unlocking all doors electrically and turning off alarm, can be bad switch on the door lock. Hope you have a working key fob. See posting in the tech area. https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...d-works-45005/

The key fob seems to be working, when I hit the unlock button, all the door locks unlock, but the light continues to flash.

try it five times in a row, etc, and then the EKA default code. If the door lock switch is bad, it mechanically unlocks the driver door but leaves alarm on. In my mind, the alarm is way too complicated.

Isn't an alarm supposed to be complicated to avoid someone easily defeating it?

Idk if this helps, but had a similar indecent with mine. no crank alarm and all. Turned out my battery was fairly drained. I popped lid removed ground from battery to shut up alarm. charged battery, attached ground. the alarm still doing its thing, i used key to door to lock then unlock to disarm. (i could just use fob if i did not go swimming with the key in in pocket and break it) but then all was normal. probably a coincidence, but i had the same symptoms.

I just installed a new Optima Yellow Top a week ago. So the battery is in good shape.

You say the battery is new but I would check it's voltage just to eliminate a possibility. I had to return a "new battery" once.

I agree, always do a charging test with all power turned on, a/c, bright head lights and a/c.
Voltage should be 13.6 to 14.4. If it is low, you have a bad alternator.
