Default won't start

I replaced the battery a few weeks ago bc it would not start sometimes. Today it would not start, no click but all the accessories worked. Also it would not jump start. Does not crank, no anything.

The key does not have excess wiggle, at least in my option. Is there a way to bypass that issue or at least isolate it?

There has a been a whning from the front, I have ordered new idler pulleys and belt. With my luck it is the alternator.

Any advice on where to start first?
Fuses?
Thanks in advance.

Default fixed it

Appeared to be a random electronic fault. Pulled all the fuses, no change. Loosened and tightened the grounds. Tightened the battery connections. Tapped the starter.
Loosened the tensioner a bit by hand and the alternator turned fine. Ill replace pulleys later.

About to throw the hammer at it; and locked and unlocked with the remote and then it started right up.

Any ideas on what may be on the way out?

This is my welcome to british cars, German cars are so predictable even when something fails you know why.

If it has cranked and ran fine between the battery and the no start then its probably not a security issue. Sounds like a bad starter to me. Use a test light and check for power at the starter while someone tries to crank it. If you have power to it and no action from it it's most likely bad...Assuming the connections are tight.

Thanks for the input. It is a very intermittent issue unfortunately. I am wondering if it is not a relay or some other small part that I should have a spare of? The ignition switch outwardly looks fine, no obvious wear.
