Won't Start with door open.
This one has me stumped [sm=smiley25.gif]I have some instances ofsporadic no starts....
The Disco II starts fine ...no trouble until of recent. There has been a fewoccasions when the car does not start and I noticed if I shut off the radio, close the door, basically turn off anything that might be drawing power.. shewill start.I have a new battery (3 months old) and no other history of no-starts.
The headlights are not dim, interior lights work, no signs of an alternator or battery problem. It sounds like there is not enough juice to fully engage thesolenoid when any of these accessories are on.
Any ideas ?

RE: Won't Start with door open.
Starter.
Next time it happens, smack the starter with a small ball-peen hammer while another adult holds the key in the start position. This will loosen the solenoid attached to the starter and it should start. This might not even work on yours, mine would not turn over at all even when hit with a hammer.
Starter is on the right side of the oil pan with the solenoid facing up. (Very visible from underneath)
My bet is you need a starter, but make sure you have no corrosion on the battery terminals and good connections first.
Good luck,
David
