Won't start - samee issue as sayre05
Hi - have a '97 Disco that there is no fuel flow when everything is connected. Have power and have checked everything else. Pump will work if hot wired and truck will turn/run on starter fluid. Saw mention of a camshaft sensor? What else would cut the flow out of the system - please I am stumped
Hi guys thanks for the help and attention - I have removed and replaced the fuel pump / multifunction relay under the hood / and plugged in an inertia switch from a running '94 and still same thing. The power just does not get to the pump but the plugs are reading the right voltage. The only thing I did out of the ordinary was clean the engine off but was very careful with water etc. Right before it stalled out the check engine light came on - can there be a (gulp) larger issue with something else in truck that would cause the ECU or controls of the fuel system to shut down? I am lost as far as what to try next and need some direction - Good thing is I can change out any component in the fuel system with my eyes closed now - any and all ideas more than appreciated
It might be this.

Thanks Spike555 - that would explain alot if that is it. I was reading the link and it said it interrupts the starter and fuel pump cut out switch. My starter still engages and turns - could the spider just malfunction the fuel flow only and not the starter? Sorry to be a pain in the *** with all the q's - I just wanted to make sure before ripping into the dash. I also was kicking around the idea of running my own power back through a relay and manual switch to power the pump??? anyone see any issues with doing so? I know it is not the proper solution but I need to get the thing running. By doing that is there anything else I would be hurting? I am sure i will get a few weird looks with a nascar style fuel switch but if it gets me on the trail faster.......
Yes the spider could not affect the starter and only the fuel.
As long as you remember to turn the toggle switch back off I dont see a problem with running direct power to the fuel pump. Think of it as a anti-theft device.
We used to do that on front wheel drive cars for the engine fan, the car gets hot, flip the switch and the fan comes on, it cools off, turn the switch back off. I dont know why we didnt just replace the temp sending unit or relay, I was just helping my dad.

Hey - In the link you sent he mentioned the solenoid that he jumped out with a direct 12V wire - what solenoid is he talking about and where is it? I want to try it out as well just to get everything going and make sure before ordering part and pulling dash apart. Is it under the hood? I am thinking he inertia switch - or am I wrong and I am just not getting it here - thanks.
