Woohoo OME Shocks on the Way!
I finally got to take the plunge. I just purchased some N115s and N44 OMEs for my 96 disco. My front left shock bushing was destroyed somehow, and I am going to just replace all 4 since they are getting older and worn. I have the genereal know how to do this kind of procedure and have researched the steps, but was curious if there was any pointers or things to look out for in the job. This is my first shock replacement for any car and I want it to go smoothly. Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You can take the front shock towers off to make changing the fronts easier. Just spray them with some PB blaster a while before to let them soak. Also spray the rear mount bolts. They tend to shear off.
Thanks! Very good advice from some of the best LRF members. I actually had a follow up question if you would be so kind. I also sent off for the Pump to Box power steering hose because I found my leak. Is there anything tricky about getting the old one off? Its kind snug in there, will I need any special tools or procedures?
Don't think there is anything tricky., but I haven't pulled a hose off yet. I will say that the factory crimp clamps are junk by now. I cut all of mine off and put on the regular worm type screw clamps and all of my leaks went away....
