Would failed thermostat cause leak and over pressure?

I'll look into getting that 180 TD5. I can't imagine the gunk in the radiator. I bet it's nasty.

Awesome, thanks much for the info. I'm going to swap the fan clutch today. They have the chevy clutch at advance down the street from me. Hopefully I'll hear that fan roar after the swap. Temp hit 217 in traffic this afternoon. Our streets turn into parking lots during rush hour. Damn snow birds.
