Default XYZ Switch, p0705, Check Engine Light

Hello all,

I get a p0705 every so often and it’s followed with a CEL. My question is, would a xyz switch cause a check engine light? I just bought a new switch and I plan on installing it however I want to be sure that it’s the solution and not something else. The rod that holds my switch is so stuck that I recently sprayed it with penetrating solution and I’m scared of snapping it when swapping the switches. I’m also considering changing the transmission fluid even though I’m told not to yet because it could open a can of worms.

Whenever the flashing M and S lights come on, I just turn the car on n off and it usually goes away however the check engine light does not. I don’t get any other codes but that p0705.

any advice here would be greatly appreciated before I start swapping things out blindly.

thank you

Likely unrelated. P0705 is misfire on #5. Read my misfire sticky at top. Your flashing m&s is likely low voltage.

I am seeing p0705 being related to the XYZ switch and nothing with a misfire. Am I seeing something wrong?

Yes, sorry, working off old memory, I was thinking P0305 - what is P0705?

it was a circuit issue with the transmission however I dropped it off last night to my mechanic and he swapped the XYZ switch and turned out that was the culprit. Crazy how much the XYZ switch is responsible for. No more lights
