Default Yet another Disco not starting thread....

My Disco won't start. Battery is at 11.8v on obd app. I don't think it's immobilized because the lights stop flashing when I unlock it. No starter noise. I do hear a relay clicking in the under hood fuse box when somebody tries to start it. Bad starter? Where do I start? No pun intended.

Hooked up my jumpbox. Still wouldn't turn over. No noise. Lights, radio, hvac all work. Bad battery? What should the voltage read for a good battery? Thanks.

Make sure the battery terminals are in good shape and not corroded. Then you can try jumping across the starter and see if you get it to engage. If not bingo you probably have a bad starter solenoid. Refurb D2 Starter is around 100.00 at most Auto Part Stores.

New battery didn't help. Crawled under and banged on the starter, fired right up! Bad starter. Picked up a Duralast reman one for $100. Fixing it tomorrow....

Let us know how it goes, please. Swapping out the starter should be an easy job but we've had some stories here of the two Allen bolts giving people fits. Good luck.

Make sure you get a 3/8 8mm allen socket. Before you attempt to loosen it make absolutely sure it’s fully seated into the allen head or it will quickly ruin the head of the allen bolt.

Darn heat shield 10mm can be a PITA, but besides that it’s an easy job.

Best, did you drop the exhaust as specified in the RAVE or were you able to change the starter without disconnecting the exhaust?

I did it with the exhaust still in place.
