The DS was actually built on Thursday, February 6, 2020, a little earlier than forecast. Unfortunately it missed the boat and is still in the UK awaiting the next one. Several other vehicles ordered by my dealer at the same time and built on the same day have an ETA of Friday the 13th. My new ETA is March 27th. Hopefully it will move up when new information is available.

Today my Discovery Sport is on a truck on it's way from the port to the dealer. Dealer says car will arrive at the dealership no later than Thursday and handoff will happen as planned on Saturday barring any government interference. I took time off and made refundable reservations at an AirBnB near the dealer for the night before (they are 4 ½ hours away). I have the deposit check and insurance arranged. I think this will be the longest 4 days wait ever!

If I were doing it over again the only thing I would change would be my decision to not get keyless entry. I had read that it made it easier to steal vehicles with keyless entry. I've never had a vehicle with keyless entry so I didn't think it was a big deal. Now that I have a vehicle with push start I see the value. I take the remote/keyfob out of my pocket and unlock the doors and then put it right back in my pocket. If I had keyless entry I wouldn't need to remove it at all.

1st hiccup. Data connection stopped working once we drove off the lot. Not sure it was working there? AT&T doesn't have the VIN in their system to activate it. Tech specialist at the dealer can't resolve it and escalated it to JLR corporate. They advise I need to bring it to a dealer to have the telematics reset. Have that scheduled for next Monday which was the next available appointment. Hope it is a hassle free experience. Until then I have been using the hotspot from my phone and it has worked flawlessly. Maybe I don't need another data connection?
