most of those sandwich adapters come with ports on them to install sending units

well i am over the 1k miles mark changed the oil yesterday , cut the filter open and let her drain out overnight dont realy see any metal so guess i am good go

guess theres more power in 1,2,3, and some more in od but thinkin i would have done better if i had swapped in the 4.6 cam so i may eventualy revisit the inside of this engine for cam and lifters,we will see how she does next month going to rausch towing the exped trailer i built

on super she seems 13/14 mpg with me not getting in gas mostly speeds of 40+, just went down to i think md grade from an empty tank, no pingging so guess its ok might even try regular to see if it pings and how bad the mileage will get

Ive been using a sandwich adaptor for 4+ years its worked great. Had the original temp and oil pressure guages mounted next to the binacle using some autolite pods. But now I have a custom guage pod that holds four gauges and my keyless ignition toggles.

More accurate (you know there's flaky electrics throwing off the the readings).

I take it you've never used mechanical gauges.

For oil pressure gauges they don't flood the drivers compartment with oil if the line blows or something like that, at most it seeps out, which I've never seen in over 40 years of using them. Provided the installer doesn't do sloppy work.
Temp gauges use a thermocouple and don't have any fluid going anywhere.

Tom, here's another simple/easy/cheap/very worthwhile mod.

Normally folks get a new front cover, gears and cover plate. Not cheap. I doubt your front cover with cover plate and new gears will come in under that max dimension. Try it out, see what you get.

i have been poking around the net and saw where someone was talking about machining the outer gear down on the pump to get better oil pressure on a d2? sounded like they were making the gear thinner?? by a few thousands to reduce binding friction? wouldnt that be the same as running a wore out housing and gears?maybe they meant reuce the od of the outer gear? aparently they were having issues with timing covers cracking?
