removing oil pan

no it can not you either have to drop the sub frame wich ive seen only done once and not too fun. ive done a complete engine reseal on these about 20 times and all 20 times it wasnt fun, taking the engine out is your best bet. since the torque sequince is very important. why are you removing the pan?

My son in law drove the car while it was low on coolant and resulted in a overheated shut down of the engine, at this point i am fairly sure of at least a blown head gasket. I have not pullud either of the heads yet as i have'nt had the time to get involved. The bottom end might be ok but i just don't know. The engine runs but is missing, i was wondering what was involved in pulling the pan, if it became necessary. Thanks for the info.
