Discovery 2 + 5.3 Vortec = Discotec
Hello,
I wanted to first thank all of you who have contributed to the 98+ pages of info on the main ACE thread, and to ACE for coming back to offer this kit. It offers an opportunity to those wanting to keep Discos on the road after the blocks inevitably crack.
I would like to fill this thread with useful info based on my swap experience as well as detailed photos and videos of the process that I would have found helpful during the process. Previously I had done the head gaskets, radiator, ancillaries, etc so that was the extent of my motor work skills, but a friend said it wasn't much more work. I'd say that is a fair statement. It took me 2 months to get this far, that was with waiting for parts, rain delays, and life. This project made up of lots of little projects so its a great one to go chip away at in the garage.
I'll post here as I put things together. I am editing the videos in small sections.
Hope someone finds this useful!
2004 Discovery 2 having 4.6 V8 removed due to a cracked block.
LS3 (LM4 Aluminum block) going into Discovery 2.

I know, I need to get back to work on it. I misplaced my flywheel bolts, had to order new ones, took delivery of a Defender that needed some immediate attention... and driving a diesel has been super fun.
I only have a few items left, just reluctant to spend those couple hours on the ground outside at the moment..
Wrap the exhaust
flywheel bolts
attach T Cooler lines to cooler
2 bell housing bolts
Harnesses + ECU placement
replace o2 sensors with straight 4 pin (or adapt harness)
get exhaust modified
