ACE, out of curiosity what's your validation plan with these Beta tests? How many testers do you have and do you have any hard performance requirements for them to accomplish? Is production halted while you wait on these results? Or is this more of an installation feasibility study?

We have used a multilevel approach to assessing the design. After the first prototype was assembled and running, we subjected it to a number of torture tests. We then pulled the engine back out to check for wear on any of the components. We ended up revising the motor mount design at that point and a number of other small tweaks. The electrical setup has been continuously refined, but has been running on the prototype without changes for two months now. We had a phantom battery drain issue that has not been a problem since the last revision.

We currently have two running trucks, and a third mid-assembly. There are five first-round beta testers. Our intentions with the beta tests are three-fold: to see how easy (or difficult) it is for a well-versed hobbyist to install the kit in their garage, to confirm the design through use, and to give us feedback on how we can make the kit better.

We have been producing the kits in batches. The first beta round was five; the next will be another five. What we are thinking right now is to have a second round of five additional beta testers, which will keep the production moving and allow the first-round beta testers more time to use their trucks.

PosterNutbag, you are not too far away from us in Fort Myers. If you want to stop by and see the trucks, let us know.
