Default Gen III + 4L60e or TH700R4 swap?

I saw a commercial/professional/existing adapter-solution to bolt a Land LT230 transfer case on a 6L80 Transmission.
(I think when LT230 fits to the Adapter the Range Rover Borg Warner fits too by the way)

So, technically this Gen IV + 6L80 drivetrain swap could be made.

For fiscal reasonin Germany the Gen IV engine (I think they started from 2006) is 5-times more expensive (1.000 $) than a Gen III engine (190 $) per year.

My Range Rover Classic is from 1991 and it is fiscally priviliged when the drivetrain is maximum 10 years newer…so I was looking for a drivetrain combo with an engine not newer than 2001.
This is Gen III engine then I think.

I understood it is not a good idea to combine the Gen III with an 6L80 but with the 4L60e
Ok
but then I stucked because of how to bolt the 4L60e transmission to the Land Rover / Range Rover transfer case ?

Would it be easier to go back in time and swap in a 350 CUI + TH700-R4 and to adopt this transmission to a LT230 or to the Borg Warner TC ?
Or have you also swapped in the full GM drivetrain including GM transfer case ?

(it wouldn't be a problem to shorten/lenghten driveshaft Propeller if neccessary)

I think it's rw engineering and they can adapt a 4L60 to a LT230. You can make a 6L80 or 6L90 work with a gen 3 motor with a transmission controller (this is the route I'm looking to go), I think the 6speed trans is worth the added cost. PCS makes a trans control module for the 6L90.

If 2001 is the last year you can go, then the latest you can go with is Gen 3 LS. The Gen 3 is a massive advancement over the older small block, so I wouldn't even consider the small block. The 4L60 does not fit nicely with the LT230, and adapters aren't common. I'd go with the 4L80 since it can be controlled by the Gen 3 LS ECM and Marks makes an adapter for 4L80 to the LT230. 4L80 is stronger than 4L60 also.

Thank you, very helpful.

Is there any car type preferable for a
Gen III LS + 4L60 or
Gen III LS + 4L80 combination that you would look for?

As I understood from another post I should look for a car with 4wd because of a slightly different TC-housing …
On the other hand I have read an aluminium block (engine Code?) is more preferable beacuse of less wheight…

Is there a combo that has both: Aluminium block + 4L60 or 4L80 from factory?
then I would look for a complete drivetrain from a donor car

.

I will also look for bolting together a Gen III Aluminium engine and a 4L80 ….
Is "L94" Standing for the Gen III engine with aluminium block?

Wikipedia has a pretty decent list of all the LS engines with the numbers. Aluminum gen 3 ls codes are ls1, ls6, lm4, l33, which I believe all were with 4L60 in cars, SUVs, light duty trucks.

If you want a 4L80, you are probably going to have to get it separately from an aluminum LS, because 4L80s were behind 4.8s and 6.0s - iron blocks in heavy duty trucks/vans.

The GM ECM for an Gen 3 will run either a 4L60 or 4L80 with tuning.
