TC is not divorced. That is plan Z if this doesn't work.

Just purchase two new driveshafts and some steel and you're all set.

More to come soon.......
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

Default Miles Axlerod Lives!

It appears the Rover is not headed for the scrap heap just yet.
Home made adapter and splined shaft completed and installed between the 4L60E and the LT230 Transfer Case. Still got a lot of work to do to finish the project, but I put about 25 miles on it over the weekend. I have some more pictures, but they are on a different device I don't have with me.

A few updates:

1. The TC is now located about 4" back from the stock location, and it is rotated down about 20 deg.
2. The muffler was hitting the e-brake drum so about 25 whacks with a 3lb hammer was necessary.
3. The front propshaft (this will be entire post by itself, later) was too close to the transmission oil pan, so about 15 whacks with same hammer.
4. The High/Low solenoid in the TC had to be removed, it seems it is a computer controlled unit (not just a simple 12 volt supply) I really don't see the need for it anyway. Best I could tell from the Rave, it is there so that you cannot shift into low when the key is not in the ignition... I say so what?
5. ZF transmission output shaft was sacrificed to build the connector shaft from the 4L60E yoke to the input shaft on the LT230.
6. Center cross member is spaced down about 1-1/4" to get below the TC.
7. Had to buy a VSS adapter from Jags That Run to send the proper VSS signal to the GM computer for shifting and UltraGauge input.

This is really over simplifying the whole process, but I'm just a shade tree mechanic with a welder, grinder and a hammer.
More to come....

Please refer back to post #215 in this thread, where I stated that the LT230 would not work behind a 4L60E (unless it is divorced). I was so wrong! Wrong About that and plenty of other things, but anyway, it will work with a fair amount of modification with a little shade tree engineering thrown in. This is not a project for the timid.
The engine/transmission part of this whole project is really very straight forward (just another boring LS swap), the electrical and computer integration provides some challenges, but this 4WD Transfer Case install has been a real eye opener. Like, lay awake at night and spend hours figuring how to solve all the problems without creating worse ones.

I haven't been on the forum much lately, is there anyone else doing this swap?

When I see the light at the end of the money tunnel, I will add up the cost of all the pieces that I actually used in the finished project. I think you will be surprised at the total cost.
