How is this happening so frequently? Saw a thread today that had been dormant for 4 years and someone replied yesterday then two more people posted to that reply.

Am I the only one that gets super frustrated when they see this? I can’t get my head around why someone would post to a thread 4,5 or even 10 years old. Yes, I’ve seen it happen with a 10 year old thread. And it’s happening more frequently than ever.

If I am alone on this I’ll shut up about it but it frustrates the helm out of me for some reason. Is there a way to close threads after a year ?

I noticed someone replying to Disco Mike on a ten year old thread recently...

Being charitable I did notice it was his first post and at least that signifies that he tried the search function before just posting up a question that has been addressed dozens of times.

I’ll reply to a dead thread only if the info I’m submitting will help others on the same thread topic and I couldn’t find nowhere else to place it after searching.
but yeah, I dig what you are saying.

I know why it happens, but vs explaining it fully I'll be short and to the point and say it's with the Forum design itself and not always just some idiot reviving an old thread.

For example you'll be on a current multi page thread on a certain subject. You scroll down to reply, write your reply & BOOM just like you appear to have replied to a 10 year old thread when in fact you were on a current thread, but when you scrolled down to reply the Forum design puts a similar thread below your current thread & accidently you've replied and woke up a 10 year old thread.

I see it happen way more easily on a mobile device vs say a PC.

Meh, I get it, but doesn’t really bother me. Maybe it’s info I didn’t know. If not, I’m moving on. It’s an internet forum, not the Library of Congress.

I had it happen to me a while back in the For Sale Section. I was replying to a guy about 19inch tires for an LR3 and when I hit reply I saw my reply hadn't posted to the thread I wanted, but some super old thread on a set of Goodyear Duratracs from like 2009.. I fixed it but was still like WOW...

Well, just got a message that this thread has been moved to the forum suggestion and help section, which is largely an unused resource with 825 posts in its entirety.

this thread belongs where most will see it.

It got moved because it was not D2 related & more Forum related Frank4.

As we explained it's not people just waking up old threads vs bots and the Forum itself auto loading related threads when viewing other threads.
