Default Belt or Chain

Hi,
I have just purchased a 2005 Freelander S TD4. 2 litre.
Can anyone advise as to whether this has belt or chain. Mileage is 108,000.
I had Ford Galaxy before this and was told it was a chain and thankfully I changed mechanic in time who correctly advised it was belt.
Don't want to make same mistake again
Thank you,
Marie

When I saw the title "belt or chain" I instantly thought you were asking which is better to tow the car to the junk yard. In my opinion a belt is better, you could get it up to like 65 mph and have someone cut the belt as your going around a bend. At that point you could call and report it stolen, get insurance money, and feast at Red Lobster.

Your car has a CHAIN and not a belt.
It is a BMW engine. (model 320 D)
