Default Buying a Freelander 2 - what to look for

Hi all,

I am ready to buy my first Land Rover after owning only small hatchbacks. Since I want it as my daily runner, a 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual seems to be reasonably economical, compared to its bigger brother, the Discovery, but still quite capable off road.

Anyway, I am stunned that I have not heard of any particular mechanical or electrical issue which seems to reoccure. In fact the only thing that I have heard of is that the transferbox is prone to breaking, but I think all 4x4s would have that problem if driven around tight corners all the time.

Anything else?

Also, is there a particular diagnostic tool whichj is prefered for land rovers? I have heard about the Faultmate - is there any real advantage over a normal OBD2 adapter, connected to something like Torque (android app)?

Thanks
Mark
